Haku dragon figure progress

I felt like sharing some pictures about how I made Haku (from Spirited away) dragon figure.

First as you can see I wrapped some tape around itself to seek the basic structure of the dragon's body. Looks like a seahorse! ;D

When I felt I was ready to figure out some lines for the legs I put some wire in right places to present legs.
Now I finally get to the longest part what is shaping overall shape and muscles with oven baked polymer clay. I usually use Super Sculpey's grey or original (beige) clays.

In this case the dragon's upper body and head are so heavy I needed to make some supportive structure. The wire is placed from neck to tail.

When I get muscles in place I smoothed them with my fingers. It's easier to smooth when your hands are little bit warm. (my hands are always so freaking cold so I need to knead polymer clay more to get it smooth to bend).

Because Haku has this scale shape I made it with art knife.

After that came the tiny legs. (What was holding the huge amount of pressure...)

This is how the dragon looked from under. This is also when I baked the dragon in oven first time.

Side profile. Still quite basic looking.

Little bit detailing the face area. I made holes for the little things like ears and horns. That way I can make them to be separated. This of course isn't needed if you are planning to make only one figure and not to make molds for mass producing. Making more details to the dragon was easier because I baked the basic structure before it.

Damn long and tiny whiskers! (I dunno how I can mold and cast those....). Haku's long hair(?) is also added in basic form.

For a finishing touch I made Chihiro to ride Haku the dragon. The girl's tummy is hollow so it can be remewed from Haku if wanted. Lot of sanding with Dremel and sandpaper was used in progress to get nice surface. After this stage will be mold making, casting and painting. Let's see when I get to it.... Hope you liked to follow this progress!

BJD makeup

I desided to post pics about my Dollmore BJD what I have makeupped. I didn't want anything too flashy but I still wanted to make her skin to look more real and alive. I think it turned well and even the hardest part, manikyre went well. The skin and nails looks now more nature and it can bee seen most if you look first how she looked on the start and now.
Eyelashes are made from human's fakelashes. For other materials I used pastel and acryl colours, markers, and varnish matt spraysealer (meant for paintings). Little tip: don't ever use fixative it just gives dust on the surface and nothing more.

The lashes are best to add in the final states. Why? Well painting eyelids can be colour them too and be more harder to make beautiful. Also you may consider to put them after giving varnish seal. The spray may stick the eyelashes in ugly groups. For shiny look on the lips and upper eyelids I used non-matt varnish. This one was in liquid form.
The picture doesn't show all the makeup I add but you can see the idea.
Tiny tiny fingers and toes. They was most hardest thing to paint. Nails are made from acrylic paint and gloss liquid varnish. French manikyre suits her the best.

If you are interested to have makeup like this to your BJD then contact me and we will discuss about how it's done and the price. Contacts can be made to my website: www.chiringobynanaya.com or to my e-mail: chiringobynanaya@gmail.com

My latest BJD project: Silver dragon

Hello!

My BJD project is going well and here is some pics of it. I don't have much photos but i hope this gives a direction. So my project is make half-dragon half-human. The photos aren't the newest ones and i have made the BJD further than these shows. :P Now the BJD is almost ready for making molds.

Above you can see one hooking system and those flat thing was made for magnets but i'm not sure will those work 'cause head is made of polyester clay called Super sculpey which contains metal ions (or something). I'm not sure but i guess it's so 'cause it makes the magnets reject it little bit. I can only try it's working with resin ones...and that sucks... oh well, anyway so that why i made another hooking system to near the neck too (not made yet in this photo).

Here i tried my Dollmore Kid Vian's eyes for her. Fits quite well but i only need make the eye holes deeper from inside. As you can see from right eye. Colour and shape is still fine for her.

Rough base for the upper body. I was planning to make her have more scale or something for it but i didn't in the end. Wearing clothes could be hard if i would do so.

Newest pic so on... i don't have better so this it will be! As you can see almost all parts are made from Super sculpey but a hand is also made from air drying clay. It's not this rough anymore as here and has legs too. Tail is in process now. It will be magnet attached or so i have thought. I'm not sure about wings yet but i guess i will made one. Also horns will be added too with magnets and i have many designs for that.

For now on seeya!

Photos of my First ordered BJD

Like i promised here is some pics of her (my dollmore BJD). I made clothes for her but she doesn't have makeup yet.
She came in big box and after the opening i figured she has Dollmore's "sleeping box" which reminds a coffin ;p In the coffin there were two long pillows to hold her like flower in the hand. I like the coffin it looks quite nice :D

There was also extra gift! ;D Very cute maid head accessory, tissues, postcard and stickers ;D

These are provement card of the real Dollmore's BJD :'D and Manual..but it's quite useless 'cause has only korean text :''D I wonder why they doesn't have even english text...

And this is the mummy i ordered ;p

She was wrapped very well ;'D

So much netting and covering. Well i'm happy it's not brogen or something ;p

And now more of styled pics i taked.

I made cute pink dress for her. It took only couple of minutes and looks quite good if i say so. The dess is made of 3 differend pieces.

So as you can see her dress has also 3 type of clothing and white lace.
More pics of her will be seen soon and also wip photos of my own doll which i'm making. And i think she will be my best made to this day. ;D So keep on looking and don't get frusfrated 'cause my computer is bugging me doesn't allow me to download pictures so it takes time to make new post sometimes :'D

It's finally here!

Yes! Yes! It has finally arrived to my house. What, you are asking? Well of course my so long waited BJD :D I has wanted so long have even one of those and now i got one. I saved money for this (little money eating bastard who is still so damn adorable X'D ) and now after dressing waiting and dealing with ordeers and stuff i have it in Finland.

So the whole story starts when i saw one pic of BJD and after that i wanted have one. So i worked whole summer and saved little bit money for this doll too. Of course my budget was only for the cheapest ones but i looked still around and found there is still cute and high quality ones under 200 euros (yea the most expensive ones are about 2000e and believe me i won't buy those even if i have money :'D). I was wondering beatween couple of BJDs under that number of euros and finally saw this cutie

And i guess you can believe i decided this is the one i want. She is Dollmore companys: Kid dollmore girl Vian. Price was 246.00 USD so about 200-300e. She can be ordered without makeup what was the main idea why i wanted BJD 'cause i like the idea of making it look personal and doesn't have any same looking one anywhere. Vian is also sent with random eyes, wig and underwear so it was quite mystery and waiting to see how it will look like when she comes to Finland :p I hoped it wouldn't look bad ;P Here's the link for buying it and more photos about her: http://dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=7366

The ordering was quite simple and easy but i need to say it's best way to ask if you did any mistakes like about what is your shipping code country and so on but don't worry they are very understanding and service was very good when i asked about things :)

After i finally made the ordering i need to pay it through pank transfer and well.. that wasn't so hard but i needed to think very much how i can get things right like which is the company chef's first name and which is last name 'cause well i don't know much about Korean people's names ;p Paying my first pank transfer and to Korea AND costing me about under 300e wasn't so easy and i tressed if it won't go to right place or i did something wrong but for my lucky i get the message that the money was sent to right place and now they will make the doll and post it to finland. The pank transfer to outside of EU cost me about 11e extra (in Finland or EU it wouldn't cost anything or just about 2e) ....damn those panks... When you get used to making pank transfers it will be easy and quick way to pay. :D

The wating time beatween my paying and the receiving the money in Korea was about one week. Two weeks i waited the doll to come to Finland. I was so happy when i get letter from post and saw it's about my BJD and thought "Yey! Now it has came to the nearest post!" but damn it it was in the main post office of Finland and they wanted tariff! So i didn't get the BJD if i wouldn't tell about the details and pay the horrible tariff which was about 50e! Those bastards i paid myself to death with buying the doll and now you are extorting me money for letting it to be in Finland.... >:( I didn't have any other choices so i payed through internet pank the bill and sweard through my heart i hope it will come to my town quickly and unharmed or i will kill someone.

Luckily next day postman knocked my door and i thought "finally you are in your home my darling" :'D

I will post about the opening and little pics later ;D
